Dosage of Chinese Herbs in Wan Pills

The dosage of 8 pills 3 times a day was introduced at the beginning of the last century as a universal principle for "Lanzhou Wans" and was blindly copied by other manufacturers. Many therapists have noted the illogicality of such dosing, for example, when blends for acute conditions are almost ineffective using this dosing method.

The line of Chinese herbs in Wan pills from TCM Bohemia is characterized by a dosage that ensures real effect, thereby bringing Wan pills closer to the action and daily dose of herbal decoctions. TCM Bohemia producers did not want to follow the view that had spread in the Western world, and they do not apply the same dosage of 3x 8 pills per day to all Wan pills, which is not justified in Chinese tradition. If we look at any pharmacopeia of traditional Chinese herbal therapy, we will find that some blends were given in small doses, others in medium doses, and for many blends, large doses are used. For example, it is difficult to imagine that in the case of flu, a patient takes 8 pills and waits another 8 hours for the next dose, despite having chills. TCM Bohemia has conducted research in this area, consulted with top specialists, including Professor Li Jie, and established new, individually tailored dosage recommendations for each blend.

"I strongly support the view that the dosage of 3x 8 Wan pills per day is senseless and does not correspond to the tradition or spirit of Chinese herbal therapy."
Professor Li Jie
